Just over a year ago, the blue CR-V gave us fits. Turns out the VTEC solenoid screen was being blocked. A new screen and an oil change fixed it.
The MIL (malfunction indicator light) came on again, but this time…
Sensor 1 is the upstream O2 sensor. I’ll be inspecting the wiring for rodent damage (not like it hasn’t happened before), but nonetheless I have a Denso 234-9062 en route to me. Amazon had the cheapest price this time around, $5 less than RockAuto and with free shipping.
It is also due for an oil change. I put Fumoto valves on our daily drivers, and this will be the first use draining the oil pan. Still, I can’t help but think that sliding under a car with temperatures in the teens isn’t going to be the most pleasant experience. I may just buy an oil extraction pump and be done with it. I prefer changing the filter with each oil change, but Honda’s service schedule specifies the filter to be changed with every other oil change. I am going to try something a little different this time regarding the oil filter–I’ll report back if it is a success.
